If you have sacrificed good quality products for more eco friendly options, you’re not alone. I really took everything serious once my city no longer recycled plastic bottles: water bottles, bottled shampoo & conditioner and body wash, hair care products that were full of Argan oil to apply to your hair after the shower because obviously the shampoo and conditioner didn’t do their job like promised. Nonetheless, those things are “sooooo convenient”, but that didn’t matter to me anymore because it would all be going to the landfill. No thanks.

So what did I do?

Well, I had stumbled upon some zero waste lifers on the internet, and that’s when it really peaked my attention. If they can do it, so can I! I started to take notes, finding the recommended products, and giving them a try.

One of my first switches before finding out about the zero waste lifestyle was obviously a reusable water bottle. I love water. Always have to have it with me, and I knew I used to waste so many plastic bottles, grabbing a new one every morning before school. So that needed to change.

The next few things I switched were the items in my shower. Of course I used the remaining products I had sitting on the side of the bathtub, but I was so excited to try shampoo and conditioner BARS (and a body wash bar, too).

I bought some from a recommendation of one of the zero wasters. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these bars, granted I’d never used one before so I had nothing to compare them to, but they had already surpassed my expectations.

That extra few minutes in the shower when I was in a hurry made it hard not to switch back to life of convenience living in a plastic bottle, but I knew that my tiny, first world problems don’t come before the environment’s.

I used the same brand for about a year and a half before I came across this newer company, NOAP. A friend of my photographed some of their products for them and of course I wanted to know more!

This brand is dope..or should I say DOAP 😉

I’ve never created a friendship with a company before. I would pop into their inbox responding to their stories or asking them questions. Kate, one of the boss babes of NOAP, would always respond with her honest opinion. Nothing ever sounded “sales-y” and I never felt pressured to buy her products just because she said so. I wanted to try them out. I kept seeing review after review of their products. People with long hair, short hair, curly hair, thin hair, you name it, they have a review of their products for each type of hair. There’s no way these bars can be this good, I thought. ‘Cause, you know, the bars I used just “did the job”.

Fast forward to buying them strategically when I would be back in the states to visit family and friends, I got the box 2 days after I arrived, with a note from Kate. Right off the bat, I felt so pampered and I hadn’t even tried the bars, yet. I went straight to the bathroom to try these bad boys out, and let me tell you.

They are everything and more. Plastic bottles who?

The shampoo bar is light, lathery and so freaking amazing. It doesn’t pull on my hair, or feel like a chore when I wash it, and don’t even get me started on the conditioner bar. By far the BEST conditioner bar I have ever used. It’s creamy and nourishing. It keeps the frizz away. It’s great for beach days or when you decided to jump in the pool. Rub that bar on your hair … and that’s it! No need to rinse it out if you don’t want to. It’s made to perfection, and it lasts so long–the bar. I’ve been using mine for a month and it looks barely used!

These bars are like that guy you never thought existed. Treats you right, good quality, smells great and dependable. They are definitely worth every penny.
